ABOUT YENER
Yener Torun was born in Turhal, Turkey in 1982. He studied architecture at Istanbul Technical University. In 2014, he started a photography project on his Instagram account @cimkedi, focusing on geometry and colors in buildings in Istanbul. His minimalist compositions gathered a lot of following and media coverage. His work has been featured in media outlets such as The Guardian, The Washington Post, CBS News, El Pais Semanal and many more all around the world. As a professional photographer he has been creating content for numerous brands and companies since early 2015.
Yener's compositions usually flattens space, emphasizing line and color over depth. He abstracts the architectural elements from their original environment and creates an alternative reality by repurposing them. He identifies this alternative universe as his "inner world" and describes his photographs as introspective works. According to him, he connects to the audience on a personal level through his vibrant compositions, by using his colorful discoveries in the city as interfaces.
